fannish love from a flower of sin
I finally saw Doctor Who: The End of Time 1 & 2. Overall, I was less than impressed despite the number of people who raved about how awesome and poignant it was. I had hope for it based on the reactions of others who saw it before I did, but those crumbled as fast as the interior of the TARDIS did at the end of the second episode. It was overblown melodrama even by RTD standards. There was OOC behavior, plot points that didn’t make sense and pairings out of nowhere. And how long did it take Ten to regenerate anyway? It also felt at some points that the writer was channeling some of his own feelings through the characters. Not like that’s ever happened in Nu!Who before. How this two-parter turned out makes me glad it’s all over, which is the sad thing. There were things that I enjoyed about Ten’s run as Doctor, but the last of the specials kind of ruined a lot of Nu!Who for me. I always was a Classic Who sort of gal anyway, but it’s still disappointing. And I’m not so sure about how Eleven is going to be. Let’s hope his behavior was just a bout of post-regeneration psychosis and that the guy mellows out a bit.
